Council supports a large number of community events and festivals, as well supporting and liaising with community groups who run their own events. Events and festivals celebrate diversity, encourage community pride and build relationships, encourage collaboration and provide "fun" times for residents of all ages. Events also attract visitors from outside the District, which has a direct economic spin-off.
Council has a direct involvement in the Honouring Volunteers Ceremony, Anzac Day Ceremonies, Artsfest, Balloons on Tour and the Pole Art of the World Symposium. There are a range of other events that Council supports through financial assistance, logistical support, liaison and advocacy. These include the Putaruru Water Festival, Supercross, Tirau Footpath Art Gallery, Sunflower Festival, Scarecrow Festival, Arbor Day and Conservation Week events, amongst others.
