Working for the government provides some of the most exciting and interesting jobs in New Zealand. It offers challenging and rewarding careers in occupations that span New Zealand society.
You can work in a major centre like Auckland or Wellington or in a rural community like the South Waikato. You can be based in New Zealand or travel overseas. In some jobs you will wear a business suit; others may mean you can be out and about in jeans and T-shirt.
Local government offers the opportunity to work in your chosen field, but more importantly, offers the chance to work for the public good. It offers the chance to participate daily in the wellbeing of your own communities… the schools children attend, the places children play, the facilities Council offers… and much, much more.
