About The South Waikato
The South Waikato District lies at the heart of the North Island of New Zealand. State Highway 1 runs through three of our main towns - Tokoroa, Putaruru and Tirau. The Council has a main office in Tokoroa, a second office in Putaruru, and the Information Centre in Tirau acts as agent. To contact the South Waikato District Council click here.
The South Waikato District has a natural beauty and is split virtually in half between forestry with towering pines and dairy farming in the green rolling hills. The people here originate from over 25 different countries and are open and welcoming to cultural differences and new ventures.
